Information about Exam Tips

Q1. I am a student studying in class 9. Please give me some important information about C.A. and ICAI.
Ans. CA is known to be the short version of the term Chartered Accountancy. This course is conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the professional accountancy body of the country. The Institute is head quartered at New Delhi and has more than 100 branches spread all over the country and abroad.

Q2. I am a student and have just cleared my 10th board exams. I want to know what are the eligibility requirements for CA in India.
Ans. Charted Accountant (CA) course is one of the most economical professional courses available in India. The course is open to all. There is no cut-off mark or minimum mark. Anybody who has passed 10+2 from a recognized institute can register for the course. However students with a background in mathematics in Class XII will be at an advantage.

Q3. In how many years can I become a professional CA?
Ans. With the introduction of CPT, now after completing Class XII, it only takes four years to become a Charted Accountant. The profession offers cent present job assurance.

Q4. What is the fees for registration?
Ans. The registration and tuition fee is Rs. 6,000, which is to be remitted along with filled in application form. In case a student submits downloaded application form, he should remit Rs. 6,100 (Rs.100 for Prospectus. A copy of the Prospectus will be sent to him along with the study package). This fee structure is applicable for
(i) Indian students residing in India and other SAARC Countries and Bhutan; and
(ii) students belonging to other SAARC countries and Bhutan.

Q5. What are the subjects to be studied ?
Ans. SESSION – I (Two Sections– Two hours – 100 Marks)
Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)
Section B: Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)
SESSION – II (Two Sections– Two hours – 100 Marks)
Section C: General Economics (50 Marks)
Section D: Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)

Q6. Will there be any study package?
Ans. Yes. The Board of Studies provides a comprehensive study package including a large question bank. The Board of Studies also provides a CD for self-assessment.

Q7. What are the qualifying marks?
Ans. The qualifying mark is 50%. A student has to remember that CPT is an objective type test with a negative marking for selecting wrong option which will be indicated in the question paper.

Q8. What is the next step after passing CPT?
Ans. After passing CPT and 10+2 examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto, a student may join the Chartered Accountancy Course. Education of Chartered Accountancy is divided into two levels:
• Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)
• Final Course There is a concurrent articled training of 3years or equivalent audit training. Eight months of service as an audit assistant shall be reckoned as six months of articled training.

Q9. What are the qualifying marks?
Ans. The qualifying mark is 50%. A student has to remember that CPT is an objective type test with a negative marking for selecting wrong option which will be indicated in the question paper.

Q10. When the CPT Exam are held?
Ans. CPT examination is being held twice in a year i.e., in June & December.

Q11. In a nutshell, what are the steps involved in becoming a CA?
Ans. Requirements for becoming a Chartered Accountant under the new scheme are as follows:
  • Enrol with the Institute for Common Proficiency Test after passing Class 10 examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
  • Appear CPT examination after appearing in the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and after completion of specified period from the date of registration for CPT with the Board of Studies. This specified period for CPT examination is 60 days. The Common Proficiency Test are conducted twice in a year i.e., in June and December.
  • Join IPCC and register for 100 Hours Information Technology Training (ITT) and 35 hours orientation programme after passing CPT and 10+2 examination.
  • After 9 months study of IPCC give either Group-I or Both the Groups of IPCC.
  • Join 3 years Articleship training/Audit training.
  • Join CA Final course:
    »    After passing IPCC, register for Final course with the Board of Studies.
    »    Collect Study Materials of the Final Course and prepare for Final Examination.
    »    May undergo General Management and Communication Skills Course during last 12 months of articled training while undergoing Final course.
    »    Complete articled training of 3 years.
  • Appear in final examination on completion of the practical training on or before the last day of the month preceding the month in which the examination is held.
  • Pass Final examination and complete GMCS Course.
  • Enrol for membership.

Q14. I want to come to Delhi for coaching of CA-IPCC. Please tell me where can I get enrolled ?
Ans. AOC has eight centres in Delhi at prime vicinities, which are well connected with Delhi metro and bus routes. Their head office is our Patel Nagar center. Q15. When will the Articleship commence under new scheme of IPCC Education, training and examination?
Ans. The student will be eligible for registration for articleship after passing Group I of IPCC and the period of Articleship will be three years.

Q16. From where will I get the prospectus for C.A?

Q17. Whether the articled assistant needs to take termination before joining IPCC?
Ans. No. An articled assistant will have the option to either continue with the article training as per articled deed already executed or take termination at the time of joining IPCC.

Q18. What are the stages of completion of CA ATC ?
Ans. There are TWO stages to clear the exam: Stage I : Appear & clear the CA entrance exam - CA CPT (common proficiency test) Stage II : Join Accounting Technician Course. After clearing the exams after study of 9 months, joining 100 hours compulsory computer training & 35 hours personality development training, you can start article training for one year either with a practicing CA or in a company with prescribed capital/assets/turnover. After one year training, a student shall be awarded an accounting technician degree.
